Inspired by the rich history, unique look, and physical qualities of woodblock printing, this project is centered around the exploration and utilization of woodblock typography in the creation of posters.

Wood has been used for letterforms and illustrations dating back to the first known Chinese wood block print from 868 CE. In this collection, the posters explore various designs through letterforms, color and layering, smearing, and positive and negative space on arches and rives paper as well as traditional Japanese paper types such as hosho and kitakata.
